"but most of us live off hope"

Despite my recent frustrations with the City of Providence (car towed on Federal Hill, no overnight parking, rain, wind, rain, etc, etc), I've still grown to love the little quirky city that it is. Whether it's for its variety of restaurants just down the street, the hipster dive bars, India Point Park, the Eastside Marketplace, the historic architecture, Blackstone Blvd, and endless other aspects, Providence will always have a place in my heart.

The above poster reads: “Providence, Rhode Island where it rains two days out of three except during the rainy season when it snows like a bitch; And Friendship is a one way street; Rich folks live on Power Street; But most of us live off Hope.”

Past and current city residents can all relate to the poster. For those of you who aren't familiar with the city, Friendship, Power, and Hope are all streets on the East Side of Providence. Hope street is a main street where it is much easier to say "you live off hope" when giving directions.

You can read the history of the cartoon on the Mad Peck Studios website as well as see some other interesting posters available for sale.

To Providence, even though today, you are absolutely dreadful. It's rained at least 6 days out of the last 10.  And me? Well, I live off Gano...and a little bit of hope.
